Gold Coast in for an early taste of Summer this long weekend

GET your thongs and singlets out Gold Coasters because this long weekend you’re in for a scorcher.

Following an inundation of storms in the southeast this past week, locals can look forward to a rain-free weekend with temperatures tipped to hit 31 degrees.

If you’re planning to head down to the beach or enjoy an outdoor bbq with mates for the footy Grand Finals over the long weekend then you’re in luck with only sunshine on the horizon.

On Saturday Gold Coasters can expect a beautiful 25 degree day, followed by 28 on Sunday and a blazing 31 degrees on Monday!

The upcoming weather is a huge turnaround after the southeast was battered by severe thunderstoms over several days this week.

Parts of south-east Queensland including Brisbane were lashed by hail and more than 10,000 lightning strikes on Tuesday followed by another hail-storm which hit the Gold Coast, damaging cars and homes in Carrara on Wednesday.

On Thursday afternoon there were also reports of hail in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Locals may want to make the most of the perfect conditions this long weekend, with the possibility of showers returning by next Thursday.
