Gold Coast launches Music Action Plan for the city

The Gold Coast Council will endeavour to bring more music to the Gold Coast, by officially launching the City’s Music Action Plan 2019-2021.

The plan hopes to help home grown acts improve and grow, as well as attract established music businesses to the coast.

It will also support local music venues continue to thrive.

Mayor Tom Tate last night launched the plan in Southport, which is home to a number of live music venues.

Mayor Tate said live music is the lifeblood of a cosmopolitan economy and essential to any destination serious about showcasing its culture and identity.

“From the venues of the hinterland to the bars along the beaches, the coast is home to a uniquely diverse music scene and we want everyone to experience great music.

“We want to see promoters, educators, artists and venues singing from the same song sheet so we can best build our reputation as a music city,” Mayor Tate said.
