Gold Coast leukaemia patient Kate Carlyle finds donor after worldwide search

GOLD Coaster Kate Carlyle is one tough lady.

After battling breast cancer twice, the former Hot Tomato journalist was recently diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia.

She has spent the past month in the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital undergoing chemotherapy and waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

Kate’s sister Kristi (who is a perfect match) was originally going to donate, but is now pregnant and unable to provide the marrow Kate desperately needs.

But Kate never lost hope and after a worldwide search, a European donor has been found.

Over the next few months when Kate is well enough, she will receive the donated stem cells.
