“Come and bag a bargain book, fiction and non-fiction for all ages and literary tastes with most books $2 or under,” he said.
“We’re moving some pre-loved items to make room on the shelves for new stock. The money we raise will go back into creating more programs for everyone on the Gold Coast.
“We’ve allocated funding of $25,308,619 to libraries for 2014-15, with $6,577,900 for additional items for library collections. This means we can ‘retire’ some of our older, more well-thumbed books and restock the shelves with new ones,” he said.
The book sale is on at Albert Waterways Community Centre, Mermaid Waters.
If you’re a library member or volunteer, you can attend the advance sale event on Friday 17 October 4pm to 7pm, or head along on Saturday 18 October from 8am to 4pm.
