Gold Coast man charged after drugs allegedly found in glove box of stolen car

A man has been charged after a large amount of the drug ice was allegedly found in a stolen car at Mermaid Beach.

Police found the black Mercedes Benz with its boot unlocked on the Gold Coast Highway near Merkeri St on October 16.

Officers discovered shortly after that the vehicle had been stolen.


During a search of the vehicle, one kilogram of the drug, suspected of being crystal methamphetamine was allegedly found in the glove box.

Following investigations Police have now charged a 26-year-old Mermaid Beach man with two counts of possession of a dangerous drug, possess property suspected of being used in connection with the commission of a drug offence and possess thing.

He’s already been charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The man is due to face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
