Gold Coast man charged over machete threats

A Labrador man has been charged after allegedly waving a machete from the window of his car as he sped towards a teenager in Logan, north of the Gold Coast.

It will be alleged the 18-year-old was forced to leap out of the way to avoid being hit by the car or slashed.

Police say around 11:30pm on Sunday night the teenager confronted the 33-year-old Gold Coast man, who had been sitting in car outside his house for some time.

They claim an argument broke out and the man drove off, but turned back holding a machete out of the window of his car, narrowly missing the young man.

It’s alleged he and a mate returned later that night and threatened the teenager again, before being arrested by police.

He’s expected to appear in Beenleigh Court tomorrow charged with going armed to cause fear or alarm, dangerous driving, obstructing police and possessing a drug utensil.
