A Gold Coast man on his way to get his morning coffee has discovered he’s almost half-a-million dollars richer after winning division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Robina man was one of nine division one winning entries across Australia who each took home a whopping prize of $455,920.08.
It wasn’t until the retired man decided to pop into a newsagent on his way to get a coffee this morning that he discovered his good fortune.

“Thank you! Fantastic!” the excited man exclaimed when told of his division one prize.
“I’m off to get a coffee. I thought I’d go check my ticket.
“I had no idea! It’s a bit of a surprise.”
The overwhelmed man explained his wife would be even more excited by the win.
“It’s my wife that has to take it in! Do I have to tell her? She will be very excited,” he laughed.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do with the prize. I just want to go have a coffee and have a think about it.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 12-game QuickPick from newsXpress Easy T, on Christine Avenue at Robina.
Owner Karen Randall said the outlet was busy celebrating selling a division one winning entry.
“We’re ecstatic and super excited! We’ve got balloons up and the win will put our little shop on the map,” she said.
“They were a lovely couple – the wife had to sit down when she heard the news!
“We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
