Gold Coast man may lose eye after surf rage attack

A GOLD coast man will tomorrow learn whether or not his right eye can be saved following what he describes was a “pure evil” surf rage attack last week.

The 41-year-old man, Mark Morlock, was surfing at Snapper Rocks on Tuesday when a disgruntled surfer deliberately speared his surfboard into his face.

Mr Morlock told The Sunday Mail it was the same surfer who he mistakenly cut off on a wave at the same spot about five months ago who confronted him.

Following the incident, Mr Morlock underwent up to 12 hours of microsurgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital in an attempt to salvage his right eye.

Doctors will tomorrow determine if his damaged eye can be saved.

Mr Morlock has made no official complaint to police.
