Gold Coast man wins $2.8 million on Keno

A GOLD Coast man is jumping for joy this afternoon after winning more than two million dollars on Keno this morning.

There were just three people in the Tugun Seahawks Rugby League Football Club at the time the jackpot went off.

Staff have told myGC the 44-year-old man is a regular at the club who likes to kick back, relax and enjoy a beer with mates.


myGC understands the man, a local plant operator, had initially thought he won $10,000, that was until his tenth number appeared on the board.

Keno officials contacted the club to confirm the major win at around 11am this morning, advising the patron had in fact just won a life-changing $2,802,265.00.

He was still shaking and in disbelief hours after the win and is this afternoon celebrating his win with his wife, teenage son, family and friends.

“We’re so happy and so grateful to Keno,” the winner said. “It’s certainly brightened up my day.”

He said he had worked hard as a machine operator his entire life and has lived in the Gold Coast area for 20 years.

It’s the biggest Keno win to go off at the club, with their largest win being around $13,000.

Seahawks Club Manager John Harvey congratulated the winner and wished him and his family all the best.

“It’s great that he’s a local ­­– he’s been a regular here for years,” John said.

“His young bloke plays in the juniors and when he’s not working, he’s in here supporting the club,” he said.

The winner said he would use the money to pay off his home mortgage.

The winning numbers were 1, 3, 9, 10, 11, 15, 24, 25, 69 and 80.

Brian Laws, Keno’s Queensland Sales Manager, today congratulated the winner, saying he was thrilled the jackpot had gone to such a deserving family.

“It’s always nice to hear when a regular Keno player and loyal sporting club patron wins a Keno jackpot,” Brian said.

“I hope the winner and his family get a lot of happiness from this jackpot.”
