The Gold Coast Mayor has been quick to write to the new US President, inviting him down under to visit our city.
Tom Tate sent an official letter off on Wednesday, which is expected to arrive in Washington today.
It invites Joe Biden to the Gold Coast in May next year, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the battle of the Coral Sea.

If it actually happens, it will be the first time a US President has come to visit the Gold Coast.
Mayor Tom Tate says it would be monumental for the Gold Coast, and Australia.
“I’m delighted to get on the front foot and invite President Biden to our city.
“What a massive event this would be as we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea.
“The publicity, the positive feedback would be wonderful to express our friendship between our two countries,” Mayor Tate said.
