Gold Coast motorist rescued after car crashes into ditch

Queensland firies have been called in to help rescue an elderly motorist after his car crashed into a ditch on the northern Gold Coast this afternoon.

The vehicle collided with another car on Burnside Road in Ormeau around 12.15pm, with the impact causing one of the vehicles to crash down a ditch.

The driver of the car, a man aged in his 80s, became trapped inside the vehicle.


Paramedics, along with Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews, quickly worked to free the man from the wreckage.

He suffered a head injury and several cuts to his body, but is in a stable condition and is expected to be taken to hospital shortly.

The driver of the second vehicle involved managed to escape serious injury and declined transport to hospital.
