Gold Coast motorists are being warned to prepare for some changes on the M1 – from Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes/Reedy Creek – as nightworks begin on the popular stretch.
Between 8pm and 4am Monday to Saturday, workers will be installing roadside barriers, temporary roadwork signage and linemarking between Exit 79 and Exit 85.
They’ll also be clearing vegetation in the area, conducting drainage works and service relocations.

As part of the ongoing program of nightworks, motorists can expect routinely changing traffic conditions for the next 8-10 weeks, including reduced road widths on the entry/exit ramps, general traffic lanes and road shoulders.
Some sections of the motorway may also be reduced to two lanes, while reduced speed limits will be in place for the duration of the upgrade.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads is urging motorists to be alert and drive to the changing road conditions, and either seek alternative routes or expect delays.
The roadworks are part of the Pacific Motorway Mudgeeraba to Varsity Lakes upgrade.
