Gold Coast named ‘family-friendly capital’ of Australia again

The Gold Coast has cemented its place as Australia’s number one family holiday destination for the third year in a row.

The Gold Coast came out on top in Australian Traveller’s People’s Choice Awards with more than 5,000 people voting for the Glitter Strip.

The Coast edged out Noosa, Hamilton Island, Port Douglas and Byron Bay to claim the honour.

Australian Traveller editorial director, Leigh-Ann Pow, said the Gold Coast is a one-stop holiday shop for those planning a family break.

“Having access to sand and water ticks the Aussie family holiday box, and when there is great food, entertainment and accommodation options in the mix, like on the Gold Coast, it’s perfect,” Ms Pow said.”

Destination Gold Coast CEO Annaliese Battisa says say it’s another great accolade for the Gold Coast.

“The Gold Coast is a world-class destination with outstanding tourism infrastructure that continues to evolve to meet the needs of modern families and travellers from all walks of life,” Ms Battista said.

The honour comes ahead of a brand new Gold Coast tourism campaign that will be launched in February promoting the Coast as a family-friendly destination.

$2.5 million will be spent targeting people in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and will also showcase the Gold Coast’s theme parks.
