Gold Coasters are being warned to expect a bit of storm activity later on, despite a calm and warm start to the day.
The Bureau is predicting possibly severe cells to move in throughout the afternoon, ahead of a southerly change.
It’s expected to bring heavy rain, possible hail and strong winds for parts of the Gold Coast and southeast region.

At the moment, showers are forecast to roll in from the late morning.
The full forecast for the Gold Coast reads the following:
“Partly cloudy. High (80%) chance of showers, most likely from late this morning.
“A thunderstorm likely, possibly severe.
“Light winds becoming southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the early afternoon then tending southerly 15 to 20 km/h in the late evening,” the forecast reads.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services are urging residents in the southeast to act now, by tying down loose outdoor items, moving vehicles undercover, ensuring pets are safe and getting the emergency kits ready.
