A Griffith University study has found that people who live in the city but have retired to the country could see the National Party lose votes in areas previously considered their traditional heartland.
Researchers estimate that as many as 20 per cent of Queensland seats could be affected including on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coasts.

The study also suggests that both major parties will struggle to win a majority in Saturday’s election with the Greens and the Nick Xenophon Team likely to pick up seats.
