Gold Coast pilot killed in ultralight plane crash
Search crews have discovered the wreckage of an ultra light plane which was reported missing after taking off from Murwillumbah Airport on Tuesday.
A searcher on horseback located the wreckage about 9.00am, on a private property on Boormans Road, Limpinwood, about 25km west of Murwillumbah.
The pilot, believed to be a 72-year-old man from the Gold Coast, died at the scene.
An operation is now underway to retrieve the man’s body.
An investigation to determine the cause of the crash has also been launched.
