Gold Coast police foil armed robbery after walking into store mid-heist

POLICE have foiled an armed robbery on the Gold Coast after conveniently strolling into to a convenience store mid-heist on Friday night.

Officers walked into the store on the Gold Coast Highway at Burleigh around 6.30pm to find a 16-year-old boy allegedly threatening the attendant with a torch taser while demanding cash.

Police said the officers were making a routine inquiry at the store when they stumbled across the hold-up.

They managed to arrest the teenage boy and take him into custody without further incident.

Thankfully, no one was physically injured during the heist.

The 16-year-old boy from Tallebudgera Valley was taken from the scene by police and will now be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
