Gold Coast police hurt in crash while responding to call

TWO police officers who were responding to a call, have been injured in a crash with another car on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the squad car had its lights and sirens on when it travelled towards Olsen Avenue and Nerang Southport Road around 8.45pm.

When it approached the intersection, another vehicle allegedly collided with the police car, causing it to roll onto its roof.

Members of the public rushed to the officers aid and worked to get them out of their vehicle.

They were treated on scene before being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the other car, a 27-year-old woman, managed to escape uninjured.
