UPDATE | Pedestrian dies in shocking incident on Gold Coast motorway

UPDATE | A pedestrian has died in a shocking incident on the Pacific Motorway at Nerang.

Emergency services were called to the scene, on the M1 northbound near the overpass to exit 73, at 4.20am on Saturday.

They were unable to save the unidentified person, who is believed to have been struck by a vehicle heading north on the motorway.


The incident forced the closure of the motorway, with traffic diverted via exit 73 and along Hinkler Drive.

Police confirmed, the scene was cleared by 8am and traffic is flowing back through the area.

EARLIER | There are delays on the Pacific Motorway northbound through Worongary due to a Police incident.

The matter, which Police aren’t yet able to elaborate on, was phoned in around 4.20am on Saturday.

It’s forced the closure of the M1 at exit 73 to Nielsens Road, with traffic being diverted along Hinkler Drive.

Southbound traffic is not being affected.

Emergency crews remain at the scene, with Police confirming the incident may not be cleared until at least 8am.
