Gold Coast Police Officer remembered on national day

Today we pause to remember fallen Police Officers across Australia.

Four years have passed since Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding was shot dead during an armed robbery in Pacific Pines.

A service will be held at the Greek Ortodox Church of St Anna in Bundall for the first time.

It will get underway at 10:00am.

Earlier a march was held in the Brisbane CBD as part of Police Remembrance Day.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart attended the march and service at St John’s Cathedral.

Minister Joanne Miller said 140 officers had died in the line duty since the Queensland Police Service was formed.

Thankfully no officers have died in the past .

The service will also mark 100 years since eight officers died in active service during World War I.
