Gold Coast rallies behind critically injured cyclist

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the family of a Gold Coast cyclist critically injured in a horror crash.

Jaysen Searle was cycling down Tomewin Mountain Road in the Currumbin Valley yesterday morning when he struck a bush turkey just before 6.30am.

The 45-year-old man was ejected from his bike and thrown through the air after striking the wild bird.

He suffered life-threatening injuries after landing on the road several metres away from his bike.

Mr Searle remains in a critical condition today, fighting for his life in the Gold Coast University Hospital.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help Mr Searle’s family concentrate on his recovery instead of having to worry about living expenses.

More than 25 people have together already donated almost $2000.
