Gold Coast Red Rooster staff threatened at knife-point in morning hold-up

A TEENAGE girl has been threatened at knifepoint during a terrifying armed hold-up at a Red Rooster on the Gold Coast.

Police said a man walked into the fast food store on the Gold Coast Highway at Tugun shortly after 11am this morning and apologised to staff before robbing them.

It’s understood the man pulled a large kitchen knife from his pants and demanded money from a 16-year-old girl who was working behind the counter.

The armed man then allegedly threatened a second female employee, believed to be the store’s manager, who police said had attended the counter after hearing the commotion.

The employees complied with the man’s demands and he fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said he was last seen running south along Golden Four Drive. He is described as Caucasian, approximately 30-years-old with brown hair and was wearing a tracksuit.

Investigators have reviewed CCTV vision of the incident and say the man made no attempts to conceal his identity.

Although no one was physically injured during the hold-up, the two female staff members were said to have been left very shaken.

Thankfully, there were no customers in the store at the time.

Anyone with any information that could assist police in locating the offender is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
