Gold Coast retiree turned almost-millionaire by finally checking Lotto ticket

A retired Gold Coast man has finally come forward to claim his division one win in the Saturday Gold Lotto draw from March 3.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, confessed his winning ticket went walkabout a few times before he realised it had made him an almost-millionaire.

The unregistered entry was one of four division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3821 on March 3, worth $986,210.30.

The occasional lotto player told a Golden Casket official he’s not sure how to spend the money.

“I hadn’t heard there had been a win so it was a big surprise!  I didn’t know how big the prize was.

“It’s a shock, but I’m not complaining,” he exclaimed.

The 18-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Supercentre News, at the Q Super Centre in Mermaid Waters.
