A local school is calling for help from Gold Coasters, to help them achieve their dream of a new playground!
The International Islamic College in Carrara has become a finalist in the Grillex competition to win $10,000 for a new outdoor learning space.
The school has been fundraising for months now to try and come up with the cash for a new outdoor play area, and have already raised $2,000 themselves.

But then, the school council rallied the whole school to put forward an entry for the national competition, which can finally get their dream over the line.
The students had to create an outdoor learning space, specifically using Grillex products.
The AIIC drew an intricate model, and used lego to demonstrate it in a video, that they then submitted to the competition.
And now – they’ve been just one of ten finalists around the country!
“It’s been a long road fundraising, especially with Covid happening this year, but the children have really tried their hardest,” Year 6 teacher Ms Coffin told myGC.
“So when this opportunity came along, they jumped on it!”
The students are now calling for help from their local Gold Coast community, to vote for their submission in the finals.
“Everyone gave it their all and really worked as a team, and now we’re hoping the Gold Coast community can help up achieve our dream,” Ms Coffin said.
