Gold Coast shop crash driver blows six times over

A Gold Coast man buying his lunch at a seafood shop in Broadbeach Waters, has narrowly escaped serious injury.

The man was standing at the counter at Rio Vista Seafoods on Rio Vista Boulevard before midday on Good Friday when a car ploughed into the business.  He was lucky to just wind up with a cut on his foot.

The woman behind the wheel was breath tested and blew 0.277, close to six times the legal limit.

The 50-year-old from Runaway Bay was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where a blood sample was taken to check for traces of drugs and alcohol.

She is being questioned.

Rio Vista Seafoods is expected to re-open on Easter Saturday.
