The city’s biggest shopping centres are all bracing for an influx of last-minute shoppers, with thousands of people expected to flock through the doors for the one night of the year where you can actually shop till you drop!
Pacific Fair and Robina Town Centre are expected to open their doors at 9.00am today and continue trading until midnight tonight.
Westfield Helensvale and Westfield Coomera have been trading since 8.00am this morning and will also close their doors at midnight.
Australia Fair, The Pines Elanora, Tweed Mall, The Strand at Coolangatta and Burleigh Stocklands are open from 9.00am until 9.00pm, while northern Gold Coasters can get their shopping fix at Harbour Town from 9.00am until 7.00pm.
Tweed City Shopping Centre is also extending their hours until 10.00pm tonight.
Senior Marketing Manager at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Kate Halpin, says she’s looking forward to a great night of festive fun.
“It’s actually a really nice time to shop after 5.00pm because the crowds are a little bit less… So anyone that hasn’t got their shopping done, I would recommend coming in after 5pm then you can take some time and wander around the shops.”
Ms Halpin says the atmosphere will also be amazing, with roaming Christmas entertainment throughout the centre all night.
“Shopping centres are a really fun place to be at Christmas purely because we go all out on Christmas decorations and we try and make the atmosphere as great as possible for shoppers.
“If you haven’t started shopping don’t stress about it as we are open until midnight, I would recommend that you do write a list as it really helps you narrow down the amount of time you spend wandering around, there’s also a lot of sales around, so look up your favourite retailers on Instagram and see what offers they have so that you’re prepared.”
