Gold Coast Show calls on local musos

THE Gold Coast Show has this year launched a new competition for local singers and songwriters to showcase their talent.

Show Manager Lavinia Rampino says local musos will be an integral part of the success of this year’s first-ever event at the Gold Coast Turf Club Showgrounds.

“We have just launched a competition for a Gold Coast Show theme song,” Lavinia said.

“We’ve never had one before and we’re after a 1-2 minute composition that encapsulates what the Show is about.

“It should be about the Show experience and what it means to the Gold Coast and the people who have been a part of it over the past 108 years.

“The competition is the ultimate blank canvas for local musos and, as part of the prize package, they’ll get to perform it before thousands of people during this year’s Show,” Lavinia said.

Lavinia said she’s confident of a strong attendance as people embrace the show’s move to Bundall and the new initiatives.

The 2014 Gold Coast Show will be held from 29-31 August and further details on the Show and songwriting competition can be found at
