“We are excited to be moving full steam ahead with the show,” she said.
“We are very hopeful that restrictions will ease on the 22nd, however, if some remain, we will still hold the show.
“With the Broadwater Parklands being almost four kilometres long, there is plenty of space for everyone to socially distance, and we will also have a strict COVID safe plan in place that we will be following.
“There is a real sense that people want the show to go ahead, especially our traders. Many have been left devastated by the cancellation of the Ekka and other regional shows.”
Ms Tobias told myGC the cancellation of the Ekka has seen competition entries skyrocket.
“We have experienced a record number of entries for our competitions. We have had to cap registrations for many of them, including the Equestrian and the Show Dogs, which will take place on the Saturday,” she said.
Gold Coasters will able to enjoy all of their show favourites at this year’s event, including side-show alley, woodchopping, arts and crafts, live music, show bag pavilion, and fireworks on both Friday and Saturday night.
“One of our major sections this year is Farmland. This is where you can see plenty of animals, the kids can pat ponies and other baby animals, there will be bees and you can learn all about honey, and so much more. We’ve got Humphrey B. Bear coming, as well as Scrapboy and Dirtgirl, which the kids will love,” said Ms Tobias.
