Gold Coast Show’s move back to cultural home celebrated with FREE entry!

We can already smell the dagwood dogs and fairy floss…

Get excited Gold Coasters, the Gold Coast Show is back for its 112th year and it looks like its going to be bigger and better than ever – with two epic locations and FREE entry!

The Broadwater Parklands has been announced as the home of the annual, family-friendly show this year, becoming the very first agricultural show of its kind to be held beside the water.

Show CEO Lavinia Rampino says the show will come alive from the Southport Aquatic Centre all the way through to the Sundale Bridge, with a spectacular side-show alley, woodchopping, baby animal farms, pig racing, arts and crafts, camel rides on the beach, live music, traditional show food, incredible roving entertainment, fireworks and the gigantic Showbag Pavilion.

“It will be hard to beat a completely free event on one of the most picturesque waterside venues in Australia,” Ms Rampino said.

The Show will also consist of a satellite location at nearby Owen Park and the Southport Pony Club, that will bring back a full Equestrian Program, the cattle and the much-loved Dog Show.

“We are absolutely thrilled after a four-year hiatus, we can bring back the heart and soul of the Show with a full traditional animal program, something sure to delight the whole family.”

Ms Rampino says the event, which was originally held in Southport before moving to Parklands and the Gold Coast Turf Club, is all about heritage – not only for the Gold Coast but also for families, friends and visitors.

“At the end of the day when the Gold Coast community come together, with eyes raised toward the incredible Gold Coast skyline in anticipation of fireworks, a Dagwood dog in hand, and the cacophony of screams from the rides in the background – this is what it’s the Show is all about…creating memories that really do last a lifetime.”

The 2018 Gold Coast Show will take place from August 31 – September 2.
