All State Schools on the Gold Coast are set to reopen this morning, with the Queensland Government giving the go-ahead for teachers to return.
Dozens of schools across the city sent out emails to parents on Monday night, requesting they keep children at home for the rest of the week.
It comes after many coast teachers, who live in Brisbane, became caught up in the COVID-19 lockdown.

However, Education Minister Grace Grace has confirmed teachers have now been deemed ‘essential workers’ and will be allowed to return to the classroom this morning.
“All QLD state schools outside the Greater Bris area will be open Wed & Thurs for students – incl. schools at Sunshine & Gold Coasts,” Minister Grace tweeted.
“Latest health advice is that all school staff including teacher aides, admin and cleaners are essential workers and can attend their school for work
“This includes staff who have visited Bris since March 20 – of course, unless they are sick or have been to any of the places listed on the @qldhealthnews contact tracing page.
“Principals are advising their school communities today.”
Greater Brisbane schools remain open only to the children of essential workers and vulenrable children.
“Thank you everyone for following the COVID lockdown requirements to keep us Covid safe,” Minister Grace said.
