Gold Coast Suns star injured in first match back

A huge blow to the Gold Coast Suns to start the 2021 season, with star player Matt Rowell injured again.

The young midfielder only had four possessions before he landed awkwardly on his knee in a tackle in the first quarter of their clash against West Coast in Perth.

He’ll have to undergo scans today, with fears he could be ruled out for weeks.

“It’s not serious, serious,” Dew told Fox Sports at half time.

‘But it’s serious enough, it will keep him out, from what we can tell right now, for a few weeks.

“But we don’t think it’s anything too major,” Dew said.

Rowell missed most of the 2020 season due to injury as well, with his return this year highly anticipated.

He was seen in a leg brace and crutches following the Suns 83 to 58 loss to the West Coast Eagles in Perth.
