Gold Coast supermarkets targeted in early morning break-ins

Investigations are underway after thieves smashed their way into two supermarkets on the Gold Coast early this morning.

The first hit occurred just after 1.30am, when three offenders forced entry to a Woolworths store on the corner of Foxwell Road and Oakey Creek Road in Coomera.

The brazen trio managed to steal a quantity of cigarettes before fleeing the scene via an underground car park.

Shortly later, around 2.45am, thieves forced their way into a Coles store on Pascoe Road in Ormeau and stole a stash of cigarettes.

The offenders remain at large this morning with investigations into both robberies ongoing.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC officers are working to determine if the two incidents are linked.

It comes just a day after thieves robbed the Coles supermarket on Reserve Road in Upper Coomera, also stealing cigarettes.
