Gold Coast surfers facing sudden death at Margaret River Pro

A BUNCH of local surfers face elimination at the second stop on the ASP World Tour in WA.

Joel Parkinson, Owen Wright, Bede Durbidge, Mitch Crews and Adrian Buchan are all in the sudden death second round at the Margaret River Pro.

They’re joined by American stars Kelly Slater and John John Florence following a tough first round.

Better news for our women, with Tyler Wright and Stephanie Gilmore both into the final eight.

Wright will line up against Sydney’s Laura Enever while Gilmore takes on American Courtney Conlogue in the quarter finals.

The other two showdowns will be between reigning world champion Carissa Moore and Hawaiian Malia Manuel and South Africa’s Bianca Buitendag is up against Wollongong girl Sally Fitzgibbons.
