Gold Coast teen accused of brutal Southport torture granted bail
A TEENAGER accused of taking part in a brutal gang-torture attack in Southport earlier this year has been granted bail.
The 18-year-old and three of his mates, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are alleged to have held a 20-year-old Kingston man against his will in early February and allegedly tortured him for nine hours.
It’s alleged the four men, aged from 17 to 21, tied their victim to a bed frame in the backyard of a Southport home and repeatedly sexually assaulted him, burned him with cigarettes, and tried to pull out several teeth with a pair of pliers.
The 18-year-old was granted strict $10,000 bail until a trial date is set and will be required to report to police three times a week.
The Bulletin reports the three other co-accused remain behind bars and will return to court on May 21.
