Gold Coast teen fights for life in WA hospital after horrific bus accident

FIRST ON myGC: A GOLD Coast teenager who moved to Perth in search of work is tonight fighting for his life in a Western Australia hospital after he was struck by a bus.

Bowdean Ramauti, 18, was walking down South Terrace in South Fremantle on Monday when he was struck by a southbound bus around 10.55pm.

He was rushed to Fremantle Hospital in a critical condition with significant head injuries before he was transferred to Royal Perth Hospital were he remains on life support.

Sources close to the Bowdean’s family say he underwent emergency surgery but suffered extensive brain damage and has been placed in an induced coma.

His parents who live in the Gold Coast suburb of Ashmore are devastated. His mother took an emergency flight last night to be with her son who’d moved to the area with his brother last year.

Bowdean, his older brother Bradley, and sister Erina are all former students of Keebra Park and Benowa State High Schools.

He’s been described by those who known him as “the best guy” and “a lovely young man”.

The accident has placed a huge financial burden on the family, who are struggling to cope with the tragic news.

A bank account and Facebook Page – Bowdean’s Donation & Message Page – was today setup for people who want to donate to help with the unforeseen expenses and leave their messages of support.
