EARLIER: DREAMWORLD on the Gold Coast is temporarily out of action this afternoon following a major power outage.

No rides have been operating at the park for almost three hours now after electricity was cut shortly after opening around 10am.

At this stage, it remains unclear when rides will resume. Fortunately, no guests were on any of the rides or attractions when the outage occurred.

In a statement, Dreamworld said management was working to restore the power as soon as possible.

Hundreds of people have chosen to wait in the park until the situation is resolved, while many others have been seen walking out.

The current outage, however, does not affect WhiteWater World, with the park said to still be fully operational.

Dreamworld said its guests will be compensated for the inconvenience caused.

The cause of the power failure remains unknown.
