THE Gold Coast Titans have knocked the Wests Tigers off the top of the NRL ladder after scoring a hard-fought but scrappy 22-6 win this afternoon at Leichhardt.
It was the Gold Coast’s sixth victory of the season and keeps them locked with the Bulldogs and Manly as equal competition leaders, all on 12 competition points.
But the win could come at a huge cost for the Titans, who lost dynamic halfback Albert Kelly with a suspected fractured leg midway through the first half.

However the post match press conference revealed that he merely suffered a major cork on his leg.
“I didn’t go no hospital, no fracture. [Just a] bit of a cork,” Kelly said.
“I was in here watching the game from the window, eating muffins and watching the boys do the work.”
Kelly could in fact be called into the Country team should coach Trent Barrett need his services in Dubbo next week for the City v Country game.
GOLD COAST 22 (G Bird A Don A Sezer tries G Bird 3 A Sezer 2 goals) bt WESTS TIGERS 6 (T Simona try P Richards goal) at Leichhardt Oval.
