Gold Coast Titans sack Kevin Proctor for mid-game vape

The Gold Coast Titans have sacked former captain Kevin Proctor after he filmed himself vaping inside Sydney’s CommBank Stadium during Sunday’s loss to the Bulldogs.

The club launched an investigation after Proctor posted the video on his own social media account with the caption “not the halftime vape”.

The video appears to have been shot inside a toilet cubicle.

While Proctor wasn’t playing in the game, smoking is banned at stadiums across Australia.

In a statement, the Titans have confirmed Proctor, who is off contract at the end of this season, has played his final game for the club.

“The Gold Coast Titans have sanctioned Kevin Proctor after being made aware of an incident during yesterday’s round 19 fixture against the Bulldogs.

“Proctor has also been released from his commitments with the Club for the remainder of the year and will not return to train or play with the squad.

“His actions were in breach of both NRL and Stadium regulations.”

Proctor joined the Titans in 2017 after leaving the Melbourne Storm.

He is reported to be heading to the UK Superleague next year.

More to come.
