Gold Coast to get QAS Trauma Response Team

A GROUND-breaking Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) initiative in which specially trained paramedics deliver advanced life-saving medical care to seriously injured patients is to be extended to the Gold Coast.

The Trauma Response Team initiative began as a pilot program in the Brisbane metropolitan area more than 12 months ago, and since then many lives have been saved by QAS paramedics using techniques and therapies pioneered by battlefield medics.

It’s expected QAS Senior Medical Advisor Professor Stephen Rashford will join Gold Coast Assistant Commissioner Dee Taylor-Dutton tomorrow to officially announce the introduction of the Gold Coast’s Trauma Response Team paramedics.
