Gold Coast to host world’s first major music event since Covid

Big news for the Gold Coast this morning, with the city locking in the world’s first major music event post-Covid.

Guns N’ Roses have announced they’re coming to our Metricon Stadium to kick off their Australia tour late next year.

It’s the first major tour announcement around the world, since the entertainment industry came to a grinding halt earlier this year.

Frontman Axl Rose, original bassist Duff McKagan and lead guitarist Slash will all hit the stage in Carrara on November 6, 2021, before heading to other major cities around Australia and New Zealand.

Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate says it’s a huge honour for the city to kick off the tour, and he can’t wait.

“It’s wonderful news that the Gunners are coming here to the Gold Coast in November. And people recognise that major events are now coming back on track.

“So I’m looking forward to welcoming the Gunners,” the Mayor said.

40,000 tickets are expected to go on sale for the Gold Coast event, from next Thursday.
