Speaking to 1029 Hot Tomato’s Pete ‘Scoot’ Carter, the surfing local – who sounds a little bit like Ed Sheeran crossed with Conrad Sewell – says: “This song is written about my girlfriend, I just wrote it for her,” he said.
Jacob first grabbed our attention when he appeared on The Voice in 2014, but many locals already knew of the singer who regularly busked around Surfers Paradise for years prior to his television debut.
Since wrapping the reality show – he made it to the top 6 on Will.I.Am’s team – Jacob is taking everything he learned from the Black Eyed Peas star and producing and recording his own original songs.
“The Voice has definitely helped me. I’m writing a lot more, recording a lot more and I’m putting a lot more songs out now which is great,” Jacob told 1029 Hot Tomato’s Pete ‘Scoot’ Carter.
Take a listen to Jacob performing an acoustic version of the Chariot live in the Hot Tomato studio, and hear more of his chat with Scoot below:
