Gold Coast woman dies in hospital a day after serious crash

An elderly woman, injured in a nasty crash at Coombabah on Monday morning, has died in hospital.

The 90-year-old was among three people injured when two cars collided on Oxley Drive at the intersection of Hansford Rd just after 11am.

The Paradise Point woman was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition with chest and neck injuries.

But her condition deteriorated overnight and she passed away this morning.

The Forensic Crash Unit will now investigate the accident.

The two occupants of the other vehicle, an 85-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman were treated in the Uni Hospital for minor injuries.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage to contact them.
