A retired Helensvale woman has spent the weekend in a state of disbelief after discovering she’d won division one in Saturday’s Gold Lotto.
Despite checking her ticket many times, the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that she had refused to believe her win was real until she received a confirmation call from Golden Casket this morning.
“Oh my God! Thank you!” the winner exclaimed after her win was confirmed by a Golden Casket official.

“I looked at the results on my mobile. I looked at them and thought ‘that can’t be right’. I looked at the ticket about eight times. I woke my husband up and he said ‘that can’t be right’.
“I’m glad you rang because I was waiting and thinking ‘my god have I really won?’!.
The lucky Gold Coaster was one of 15 division one winners nationally, and one of four in Queensland, who each won a division one prize of $271,775.57.
“It’s so good! We’ve been playing about 30 years using a mix of family birthdates. We’ve kept those numbers all along,” she said.
The happy winner explained that the windfall couldn’t have come at a better time for her family.
“We’re going to pay a few bills and then I want to go to Europe! We’ve decided to use the money to do something we want to do and do it now while we can,” she said.
The winning ticket was purchased from Coombabah Lakes Newsagency.
Owner Adrian Lancaster said the outlet was celebrating selling its first division one winning entry after more than 30 years in business.
“It’s very exciting to have our first division one win since the business started,” he said.
“Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come and there’s lots more wins for our customers.
“Congratulations to the winner! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
