A Gold Coast woman has been sentenced to five years behind bars after pleading guilty to causing a crash which killed her youngster sister.
Candice Lee Chmieluk appeared in Southport District Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to one charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by alcohol.
The 31-year-old’s jail sentence will be wholly suspended after three months.

She has also been disqualified from obtaining a drivers licence for five years.
The fatal accident happened in Palm Beach on May 29, 2016.
The court heard Chmieluk and her younger sister Sammy-Jo had been drinking at the Currumbin Vikings surf lifesaving club before they got into their car to go home.
Not long into the trip, Chmieluk lost control and slammed her car into a traffic light on the Gold Coast Highway. She was dragged from the wreckage of her vehicle by witnesses, while her sister died instantly upon impact.
