Gold Coast woman arrested after driving car onto tram tracks

AN unlicensed woman who drove her car onto Gold Coast tram tracks and allegedly fled the scene, has been arrested.

The 24-year-old woman was allegedly attempting to do a U-turn at Main Beach overnight, when her silver Suzuki Swift became wedged in the tracks.

The Labrador woman is then alleged to have fled the scene, however was arrested a short time later.

The Brisbane Times reports upon a search of the vehicle, police located drug utencils and a knife, with investigations underway as to whether the woman was affected by drugs at the time.

She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on November 2, charged with unlicensed driving, driving under the influence, drug and weapons possession.
