PILOT of the Gold Coast XCAT team Tom Barry-Cotter has spoken exclusively to 1029 Hot Tomato’s Mal & Luke in the lead up to one of the most challenging and extreme power boat races in the world.
In just under one week, XCAT power boats will be hitting speeds of up to 300 km/hr while battling it out in the Broadwater in one epic race.
Barry-Cotter has joined forces with fellow Queenslander Ross Willaton to take on the other thirteen XCAT power boats from Australia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Europe and many more.

Barry-Cotter told 1029 Hot Tomato that he is grateful to have been given the opportunity to compete in the adrenaline-packed water sport.
“XCAT really is the pinnacle of powerboat racing world-wide at the moment so I’m very thankful to have had the opportunity to race for the Dubai Duty Free team in 2013 and get my entry into the sport.”
The Broadbeach local says he is looking forward to racing “around our beautiful waters” in his hometown this coming weekend.
The XCAT World Series will be showcased on the Gold Coast from August 21-23.
