A Gold Coast man’s been charged with multiple offences, after allegedly attempting to cross the border with a gun, ammo and drugs on board.
Police stopped the 31-year-old in a blue Audi sedan at the border checkpoint along the Gold Coast Highway in Bilinga around midnight on August 18.
After initial conversations, police they allegedly seized an ammunition belt with shotgun shells that he was wearing, as well as a quantity of methylamphetamine.

They then search the whole vehicle, allegedly finding a loaded shortened firearm, as well as quantities of suboxone, xanax, and drug utensils.
The Southport man has now been charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon, authority required to possess explosives, possess utensils or pipes and contravene requirement of community-based orders.
He’s due to front court next month.
