Gold Coasters clock up the highest amount of boat incidents in Qld

It’s been revealed the Gold Coast is still one of the most dangerous places in the state to be a boatie.

According to the Marine Incident Report, Queensland experienced a six percent increase on boat incidents in 2018, compared to the year before.

While the Gold Coast was lucky to not record any deaths in the period, the city recorded the most marine incidents.

Across Queensland, 342 incidents were recorded. The Gold Coast accounted for 83 of those incidents which injured 29 people.

Second placed Gladstone only recorded 69.

The data has prompted a warning to boaties, to always have enough life jackets on board.
