GOLD COASTER’S are being warned to ignore scam phone calls from Virgin Australia.
The airline has received reports of unsolicited calls to members of the public from entities claiming to be from Virgin.
The scam calls relate to prizes, vouchers, cancelled or rescheduled flights, with the caller eventually asking for a valid credit card or personal information.

It’s understood a number of Australian businesses, including financial institutions and other airlines, have also been targeted.
“Scammers often use technical terms and industry jargon to appear legitimate, and use high pressure telemarketing scripts in an attempt to obtain credit card numbers or personal information,” Virgin said in a statement.
“As with any suspected scam call we strongly advise customers to hang up immediately.”
Gold Coasters who have provided credit card details during an unsolicited call are advised to contact their financial institution immediately.
Virgin Australia has reported this scam to the authorities, and are continuing to investigate.
