UPDATE | Police deem Surfers Paradise incident over

LATEST @ 11.00 AM | Police have confirmed an incident in Surfers Paradise earlier this morning is now over.

Officers earlier urged motorists and members of the public to avoid The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Staghorn Avenue due to the unfolding event.

But the area has now been cleared and is open to the public.

EARLIER @ 7.30 AM | Police have asked people to avoid parts of Surfers Paradise as they respond to an incident.

It affects the area around The Esplanade, Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Staghorn Avenue.

Motorists and members of the public are being urged to stay away until officers have cleared the area.

“Police are asking motorists and members of the public to avoid the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise Bvld and Staghorn Ave at Surfers Paradise as they respond to an incident there,” police tweeted.
